A young couple I know was asking me if this was correct,(I dont think it is,but though I would ask here).
Young couple had a baby 5 months ago.She is on maternity leave and receives £500 a month.He has been finished up from work and is in the process of claiming JSA.(for himself). They have rung tax credits who have told them because they earned too much last year they are not entitled to anything for the child...(I told them to ring again and ask them to base it on this yr)..They have contacted housing benefit to claim and they have told them they are not entitled to that either.Their rent is £550 per month..I think they are being given the wrong information, can anyone give any advise please.
