Question regarding daughter.

Hello!

I am asking for any advice (if there is any) regarding my 19 year old daughter.

She lives in a room in a shared house and has just had her contract changed at work after being on an apprenticeship there. The only thing is her employer will only contract her for 24 hours a week at 6.19ph She has been assured that there is plenty of over-time but I guess it just feels unstable as 24 hours is not very many given that she fully supports herself.

Her rent is £80 a week. I know this sounds very expensive but she is in a safe area in a lovely house with lovely people. We are a forces family so unfortunately at the moment her dad and I do not live in the UK and where she lives does bring us all some peace of mind.

I have worked out that if she does not get over-time some weeks then her basic wage is: £148.56 - that is just under £600 for a 4 week month and after her rent that does not leave to much to food shop, pay bills and other bits.

This is where I am asking for advice as I am not fully up to speed on all the credits etc that are available now. In her situation is there anything she can claim to help top her up until they can offer her more contracted 'stable' hours? Or is it a case that she will have to look for a different job? That would be a shame as she has been there for a while now and really proved herself starting as an apprentice and her employer values her as much as she values them and I know the employer would love to offer her more but financially her hands are tied.

She is a hard working 19 year old and completely holding her own but it is really tough and I just wondered if there was anything available to help her out a bit?

Thank you for any help.
