Working tax/Child credit - child 18 lives independently?

$

Hi,

I am sure I am not the only person in this position. I have been searching the internet, but cannot find the information. Please can someone point me in the right direction.

My daughter will be 18 next year, she has completed one year at college and is just about to start another 2 year course at college.

I am separated from her father, who pays child maintanence and I receive child and working tax credits. I work 18 hours per week.

Please do not judge me, but I would really like her to move out when she is 18, so she would still be at college.

Is there a guide to what happens to my child and working tax credits? I would like to see if I can plan for this to happen.

Universal Credit advice and guidance

Hello

I am really stuck and have been trying to get some understanding of this.
Due to splitting up from an ex partner I had to go part time to do the school run as I have a 10 year old Daughter.
I applied for Universal Credit.
June's payment was fine. However, July's payment was missed and I received nothing. So now I am £300 in arrears. I was told my employer submitted my figures late so because of this it shows I got paid twice in the assessment period which says i earned £1933, when I earned £930. My Manager said she has not been in contact with HMRC about me so does not understand this situation and who they contacted to get my information.

After disputing this for a month and RTI''s being raised because of incorrect figures. I had a light bulb moment and wondered if this whole situation is because when my pay date of the 15th falls on the weekend I get paid on the Friday. This has been confirmed this is the issue.

However now after learning this I am extremely stressed as this happens 4 times in the year which means I will be behind in my rent by £1600, either that or don't eat or pay bills.

If this happened maybe twice in the year I could budget but 4 times is a whole different situation plus this also effects my Council Tax amount.

Any advice would be appreciated. x

Myself and my partner are both looking for work, my partner has however just been offered a part time job of 24 hours per week. what will be affected by this with her the hourly wage being £7.50. Will we still be entitled to JSA,(currently claiming as a couple) we also have 3 children so get child tax credits for them and family allowance, also Housing benefit.

Thanks in advance

Housing benefit closed 15 months ago, local authority demanding payment

Hi all,

I have a dilemma i am currently in and would like some of your advice. Around 15 months ago i stopped my housing benefit claim and decided to move premises elsewhere, temporarily. Later around 2 months after, moved in with parents.

During my claim everything went fairly smoothly, application was processed and accepted. Prior and during then i owned my own LTD company (although it wasn't trading) and was also fully employed by an automotive main dealer. My salary was very low, hence i opted in for a housing claim, where i found a premises and the local authority paid us accordingly for our living.

Around 6 months later i left the employment and became unemployed from there. I still didn't carry out any trading nor did i start to take wages from my company.

When i contacted the the local authority to explain to them that i am now unemployed they then started to look in further. They explained to me that because i am a director of a business, i was not able to claim any further and any past claim i had put in, i am now liable to make reimbursements to them for this, owing the full amount given.

I then had a letter from them demanding evidence, should i say i am not liable, i need to explain this. A letter was then written to them from me, explaining my employment term as an employee which was throughout the duration of my claim and also evidence showing my company was not trading and i was NOT seeking any profits or paid employment from it, during the course. i since did not receive any response.

I am now bombarded with letters after one whole year, demanding the fully payment just over £4000.00 and apparently they have tried to get hold of me at my old address, despite having my contact number and email, and only now found me from the electoral register.

They have gone down to the routes by explaining should i not pay the fully amount, they will start to deduct money from my employer (currently my own business, which is now trading).

I briefly went to see a solicitor who in return suggests, wait for them to issue court proceedings and we can then act, and in the mean time seek advice from citizens advice, as this is not a criminal case.

Thanks for taking time to read this, i shall look forward to some of your inputs.

Does temporary absence trigger migration to UC?

I wondered if anyone on this forum could help as no-one from Job centre could.

Couple living in full-service UC area, with joint JSA claim , wife does not sign on Currently claiming CTC for one child.

If wife (only) went abroad for a few weeks (less than 8) would this trigger migration to UC given that CTC allows up to 8 weeks abroad without reclaim.

Faster Payment (Benefit)

Hi,

Quick question, are the DWP able to send a faster payment (FP) for Attendance Allowance?

That department has made a error, and they seem to think that FP isn't available and you must wait 5 days for payment; bearing in mind it's the fault of the DWP why payment hasn't been made on them due date and the person needs this money now.

Cheers in advance

Greetings.

Could anyone be so kind as to advise if it is possible to apply for, and be awarded, P.I.P whilst claiming Universal Credit, and awaiting a Work Capability Assessment? Furthermore, would there be any difference in the cases of "Full" and "Live" Universal Credit services in this regard?

Many Thanks

Hi,

I cannot seem to find a definative answer on this.
I have been accepted for a backdated ESA contribution based claim but the amount they have suggested seems wrong to me.
After the 28 weeks where SSP means you can't claim, I was paid company sick pay for roughly 3 and a half months. Am i entitled to the full £73ish from the end of the SSP while still receiving company sick pay?

Thanks

ESA - MR help

I was placed in CB ESA (SG) about three years ago without F2F assessment. Recently had a reassessment and placed in CB ESA (WRAG) without F2F assessment, both times sent medical letters.

I believe at least one factor fits me in support descriptors.

I am still in the first month, and would like to do a mandatory reconsideration in writing. I am clueless in the next steps.

What do I need to do (ask for a form)?
What do I ask for reports, etc?

If my decision remains unchanged, what happens after 365 days? Another reassessment?

Any other help will be great.

Thanks

Endowment maturing & benefits?

Hi

I have an endowment which will mature in 3 yrs time.It was initially taken out to pay off my first mortgage of 45k,it will now pay out much less approx 25k.
This was taken out when i was working however i am now on benefits due to long term on going ill health issues.
When i became ill in order to keep our current house we had to change from a repayment to interest only mortgage. This has approx 10yrs to run and still sits at approx 75k with no means to fully pay it off.

My question is:

I would like to use my maturing endowment to lower the 75k.However as i am receiving benefits how will this effect them due to having a lump sum of approx 25k?
The benefits i/we are currently entitled to are contribution ESA,PIP and working tax credits. My wife works full time.

My 2nd question is:

I will also be left part share in my parents property when they die which would be worth approx 50k.How would this effect my benefits if at the time(hopefully many yrs yet)my circumstances/health have not changed and i am still not in employment?

This is causing me much worry which is impacting negatively on my wellbeing as i do not know the best course of action to do the best for my family who are already suffering financially due to me not contributing as i once did.

Kind Regards

Reduced savings & Universal Credit

I have a power of attorney for my widowed sister in law, and as such do all her finances etc as she has a yet undiagnosed mental disorder. She is 62 and not worked since 1981. She cared for her disabled husband who died 3 years ago. She had savings of over £16,000 so was not entitled to claim anything. When her savings dropped below the required amount, I commenced the arduous task of claiming for her. As per the rules, she lost £4.35 per month for every £250 over the £6000 limit. Her U. C. Payments do not cover her rent living expenses gas etc, and as such her savings have reduced considerably since her claim started. I have submitted her bank accounts again to show the state of her finances, but I have been informed that her review will not take place until 12 months after her first claim. During this time she will go below the £6000 lower limit.
IS THIS CORRECT?

Working Tax Credit/Universal credit

hi last year I wasn't in a UC area so I claim working tax without any issues, however june of this year UC became live in our area,

I tried to make a claim for working tax credit but had to make a claim through UC (or so I was told)

anyway got my appointment in july, and was told I would need to wait 5 weeks before 1st payment, ok not a problem

5 weeks pass, no payment arrived , so I rung them, only to be told sorry I cant get working tax credit anymore as they don't do it anymore???

I thought working tax credit was meant to be rolled into one with UC yet they are saying I cant get it anymore , is this true for people in UC live areas?

if so how is it right for people outside of UC area who haven't gone live yet who are still able to claim working tax without any problems, (just like I did last year) yet people who live in UC areas have been basically (from what I was told anyway on phone) as been scrapped

how can that be? and is the information I got from work coach online true?

can UC claiments still get working tax credits or as it been scrapped under UC,,

I just cant understand why people who live outside of UC areas have no problems getting it yet UC live areas (my case) cant get it anymore even tho I work 30 hours or more a week

can I complain about this assuming I have a case(if so who too)
anyone else in a similer position or is it just me who cant get working tax credit in UC live areas?

can you be entitled to working tax credit for part of the year?

Hello!

we've been informed we owe a significant sum due to tax credit overpayment. we were part of a joint claim and my partner did not update the info when I began employment again (I work as a contractor, sometimes go many months between contracts).

On the decision TC have said we were not entitled to working tax credit for the entire year, due to total joint income and thus the wtc payments are included in the overpayment.

As I was only employed for half of the year, was my partner not then entitled to wtc for my period of unemployment?
She meets all the criteria for it (hrs worked, amount earned etc). I understand she is not entitled to it because of total income, but we did not have that income when she was receiving it as I was not working for part of the year... :undecided

Also, their ''anualised'' income figure for us is wrong by over £1,000, when I explained it to them with evidence they said it was ''based on information supplied by employers which we then anualise'' to get a figure for the year.

But if it's incorrect, surely it's incorrect?

Finally, how are these people on repayments?
Can we pay back in small amounts monthly?

THanks for any replies.

Hi all. I was told on Monday 13th Aug my store is closing (permanently) on Saturday 25th Aug. At the meeting we were told they were giving us 30 days notice, for which we will be paid for. My last shift is this coming Wednesday 22nd and i'll be paid until Wed 12th Sept (End of the 30 days notice)

When should I make a claim at with the job centre? After my last working shift (Wed 22nd) or when the stop paying me/notice is up?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, myself and my now ex-partner recently made and are receiving a joint universal credit claim. We are in privately rented accommodation with both names on the tenancy. He has now left me and my daughter and I will be contacting DWP to switch from a joint to single claim. I Know I would need to start a new claim with a new assessment period but would I need to go into the job center again for another interview? Will they want our tenancy to be in just my name, I’m worried il have to leave my home. I’m not sure how it all works moving from a joint to a single claim. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

hello i need advice im apply uc in march 2018 and after one month i got first payment.then i start new job 24 hour per week in April and that end in 27 june. then i start working with Hermes as self employed in july 6, so im inform uc payment that due in 19 of july and they have stop that payment because i need to proof my self employed. and i proof that with hermes letter.as they told payment will release today still not got any thing from them. i call them and ask for reason they told me i need to proof Habitual residence test then i went for appointment i proof this with my European passport so they still hold my payment because decision maker have to approve. i start wait for 19 august in 17 aug on my journal they post Entitlement to Universal Credit approved and then after 4 minute they attach this letter We're writing to tell you that we have decided that you have a right to reside in the
UK as an EEA self-employed worker.
We are unable to consider whether you have gained a permanent right to reside as
we do not have sufficient information about your work/benefit history at this time.
If your circumstances change, or your work comes to an end, we will need to look
at this decision again.
What if I disagree with this decision?
You can: ask us to explain, and ask us to reconsider our decision. If at the end of
this you still don't agree with our decision you can appeal to an independent
tribunal.
can some body help me what can i do now my english is very bad and citizen advice is wasting a lot of time book appointment after 10 days
