Hi,
I had my first child ten months ago, and due to the nature and hours of my job have decided not to return to work.
My partner works full time and earns just under 17k per year. Based on this total the calculator indicates we may be entitled to some child tax credit.
The form asks for my income for last year, and after the deductions for maternity pay etc my income comes out at around 18k.
I've put on the form that I no longer work, but will our award be based on the fact that last year I did work, and therefore no tax credits until next April?
Sorry if this is a silly question, I've never claimed tax credits before and am a bit confused by it all!
