I have a son who is 19 and just about to leave full time education.
My Child Benefit payments stopped on 3rd September 2012 as I was of the understanding that when a child turned 18, Child Benefit payments would stop. However, I have today discovered that Child Benefit is now paid up until the age of 20 provided the child stays in full time education and that I should still be receiving it.
HMRC have said that they will back date the payments I am owed. My question is how far will they back date? Will they go back to when they stopped last September?
