Hi all,
I have recently had a scare and believe their is a possibility in being made redundant early next year. Obviously i am seeking employment as we speak but i am in a strange predicament.
Both myself and my wife work, I work evening's and weekends and she works during the day, This happened by accident 6 years ago when i was made redundant just as my first son was born, the job i have now fitted into the childcare situation, it meant we did not have to pay for childcare (not that we could afford it), my First born is now at school but i have a 19 month old.
Like most people i have a mortgage and ever increasing bills but live comfortably at the moment but basically my wifes pay covers mortgage and bill including mobile phone contracts and contractual broadband and tv, also covers debts (credit cards and loan). I do have to sub her about £100 to help cover all those costs leaving the rest of my wages for food, entertainment and the ever increasing costs of running our car (although she pays insurance).
It is starting to causing me untold stress thinking that if i get made redundant and i find it hard to get another job which due to my child care issue's is a real possibility, we have no savings and it will not take long for us to get into trouble, worse case having to sell the house and go into council accommodation (we wont make much of a profit on the house in the current climate).
At the moment we get child benefits for both our boys but we earn too much (just) to get child tax credit. What benefits would i be entitled to do you think? below is what i think i will get..
Child benefit (no change)
Child tax credit for my wife (no idea how much)
Jobseekers allowance (once again no idea how much)
And that would be it, i doubt i will get any help with the mortgage would i?
Please help someone getting themselves into a bit of a state :(
