Since my wifes stroke a couple of years ago she receivedand continues to, an Attendance Allowance, which has been a welcome additionto her reduced pension since she opted for the Married Womans N.I. stamp manyyears ago, BUT I have been informed that when I retire the Attendance Allowancewill cease as it is only paid so that we can use it to get help during the daywhile I am working.
Is this correct?
And if so, is there any way we can supplement her patheticpension with say, oh I dont know, Disability Allowance, Pension Credit orGuarantee Credit (all terms I have plucked from a search of pensions!) or amI clutching at straws?
It seems so unfair that women like her were encouraged toopt for the cheaper N.I. stamp back in the 1960s with no apparent warningthat this would affect their pension by such a dramatic amount.
