I currently work on a zero hours contract for a company, which I have worked at for the last 3 and a half years. I used to get quite regular hours but over the last 6 months there hasn't been a lot of work on and for the last 5 weeks I haven't had any hours and there I don't know if I will get any hours next week or after.
I'm thinking of quitting because obviously I'm getting no money at the moment, I just wanted to know can you claim benefits straight away? I know they can refuse to pay them for a while if you voluntarily leave a job, but is this a good enough reason?
