Hi, I've been on JSA for the past year or so, but due to my illness it was agreed with my doctor that I'd probably be better off on ESA. I have filled in and posted off the long ESA Questionaire. I reached 55 last month and was able to take some of my personal pension early ( it worked out to £12000 tax free lump sum, and a monthly annuity of £160) i bought a decent car for £7500, to replace my old banger which i got £200 as part exchange..DWP said this would be fine so long as i sent in a receipt for the car showing the p/ex.
I've had a letter from my local housing benefit office today, quite rightly they want to know my financial situation, I believe I can have up to £16000 in savings ( i am well below that), but will my £160 a month personal pension have an effect on my housing benefit? I was receiving full housing benefit prior to my pension.
