Are these going to be the norm as we have more and more Gatekeeping and fobbing off at initial enquiries to authorities etc. They are using the law more and more and not releasing even basic information sometimes. I was talking to someone recently who wrote an initial letter to his former employee , local authority , asking for some details regarding his former employment with them. The response was about 3 lines quoting the law and some 6 year rule. He immediately put in a Subject Access Request and contacted the Information Commissioner for advice. When he received a 2nd letter asking him to write in again as he hadn't given the correct title of his former job he rang them , even spoke to an ex colleague and they knew what his previous position was. He sent all copies of his correspondence to the Information Commissioner , left it in his hands and he sorted them out , on this occasion anyway , and he was eventually provided with his timekeeping record for his last 3 months of employment.
