Evening,
Just wondered if anyone could help as maths is not my strong point. My current rent is £115 a week and I get £65 a week HB, leaving me to pay £50. I have an opportunity (possibly) to move and the rent is £90 a week. Now, I'm rubbish at trying to work out HB calculations and I was wondering how the change in rent would impact my contribution - am I looking at paying a similar amount or would it decrease as the rent is lower? Sorry, I know I must sound completely stupid, but as I said, maths is not my thing!
Interestingly, the new properties are advertised as 2 bed plus study by the HA. If you're buying (new build estate) they're advertised as 3 bed. Max number of people allowed in the property is 3, min is 2. Is this a 'bedroom tax' dodge? I know that my area has pulled a few of these stunts with regards to additional bedrooms suddenly becoming a 'study'.
The properties are also on a 'sensitive let'. I've had a google, and I haven't been able to find an example of a policy (all seems a little cloak and dagger) but from what I can gather, it seems to be 'cherry picking'. Can anyone explain more? I've been short listed, so they're just waiting on me sending in additional info to support my application.
Cheers xx
