Housing benefit topup (discretionary payment)- they need PROOF ?

The client has been getting housing benefit + discretionary housing benefit (which is basically a top up of payment every month, to = the amount of rent)

Housing ben + discretionary = amount of rent payable..

but the discretionary payment period is coming to an end, for renewal, and they as saying, you can apply again but it is not guaranteed it will be accepted again.

with the next application they say they need to see proof that they have been looking for cheaper accommodation, along with the application, to increase the chances of them being accepted for it.

What kind of proof would this be? - new accommodation application? how can that be proved? - or just a copy of the application for example ? - or 'rejection notes' ?

what other things can be used to show that they have been looking for cheaper accommodation? (rather than just a newspaper of cheaper accommodation circled in red)

there aren't really any cheaper properties in the area..

the client is disabled, so would this help their case?
