Will housing benefit be reduced if I have more than one bedroom?

Hello all,

Hoping someone can help? I have a few questions here.

I am disabled and receive DLA and CB ESA Support group over 35. I was looking into moving into my own one bedroomed on my own, however there are so few available and most letting agencies say no DSS :(. I have been told how much I would get in housing benefit if I moved into a property privately.

1) However, what would happen if for instance I am told I would get £400 per month housing benefit and I saw a property for £400 privately for £400 that was 2 bedroomed? Would my housing benefit be reduced as I would have a spare bedroomed or would I still get the full £400?

2) I also wondered if I would be entitled to rent a 2 bedroomed from the council or a housing association or would I be excluded from bidding for a 2 bedroomed council property if it was only myself wanting to move in?

3) Also if I rented a council property or a housing association that was 2 bedroomed that was say £400 per month would my housing benefit be reduced as I would have a spare bedroomed or would I still get the full £400?
