Hi guys i was wondering if anyone has heard of this situation.
I recently won a tribunal against HMRC regarding an overpayment of child benefit. HMRC were caught bang to rights telling a huge porky -- the judge spotted it and ruled in my favour. ( I have the paperwork to prove this BTW before I get moderated LOL)
Anyway - my point here is that I was awarded child tax credit as my job was fairly low paid in conjunction with child benefit.
They are now claiming that I was over paid CTC for the same period . How can this be if I was entitled to child benefit , my wages and circumstances remained the same and the judge ruled that I was over paid due to thier failings of HMRC and not mine.
I recently wrote to HMRC to explain the recent tribunal ruling but its like they didnt read the letter as thje response seems devoid of any logic
Are they playing dirty or is this for real ???
I thought the rules were the same for CTC as for child benefit ??
