Helping my elderly neighbour - disability grants

I have a neighbour suffering from a degenerative disease and is slowly getting worse and worse.

They need a stair lift or vertical lift fitting sometime soon and speaking with them was sad to hear they have to pretty much use all their retirement savings to pay for these expensive additions.

I'd love to help the out and thought id ask here if anyone knows anything about getting special grants for these kinds of installations or any organisations i could put them in touch with.

It would be a shame if they have to now spend all their life savings to adapt their home due to this unforseen illness.
