I am currently living in a 1 bed council flat claiming housing benefit (wishing i didnt have to). Sadly my grandfather has reacently died and i have been left a share of his house which i understand i will need to declare. As a family we have decided we do not want to sell the house but will rent it out instead due to the current state of the housing market and obviously i will declaire any money i get from the rent which after costs and by the time its split will only be about £30 a month. What i am wanting to know is does anybody know how me owning a part of the house affect my benefits?
