I have been on JSA Allowance previously for several months and then I found a part time job which lasted about 3 months then I was back on JSA Allowance for a few months until I found a Christmas temp job that was only contracted for a month and now I have just signed on again and have and interview on Monday to start this Day One Support Work Experience.
Should I be placed in this programme right away? Don't I have to start claiming again for a few months before they put me into something like this?
When I attend my interview on Monday, will I have even a little choice as to the sector I want to work in? Because I have experience in museums/galleries that I have interned and volunteered at and I would not want to be placed into a retail environment at all, it's not going to benefit me at all... considering that it's up to 30 hours a week without pay.
Say I do get placed in a sector that is similar to mine, or one that I find suitable for my career prospects, will this be a solid 30 hours each week?
Could I not find a placement myself and volunteer that way?
What are my rights on this whole thing?
Thanks. x
