Hi all and thanks for looking
we are a couple with a one year old child, I have a job of 24 hours a week in a job that is making me ill and my husband is self employed bringing in 3k per year - its just starting up and we are hopefully in the next few years to increase that. My husband look after out child the 3 days I am at work and then can only work the other 2 days and nights. My long term goal once our little one starts nursery is that I would work for my husband on a PT BASIS
I have been having a lot of time of work lately due to stress related illnesses (tinnitus, panic attacks, suspected carpel tunnel syndrome, depression) which I believe are caused by work. I basically went back after maternity leave to work 3 days a week and am to do the same job that I did in 5 days previously. Taking the time of work is then causing more stress as I am then having to catch up and also I feel so guilty as I don't have "physical" signs of being ill and my manager is very nice about it all but realistically that can't go.
I feel like I need to draw a line under it all and bite the bullet to just leave. I have work out on the benefits calculator that we would be £300 a month worse of.
My question is will I even be eligible to income support having quit my job?
Should I just go off on long term sick ( I would get full pay for 10 weeks)and wait for them to sack me? ( I hate the idea of this as it will cause me more stress and would just leave bad feeling)
Can you hand in your resignation whilst off sick?
thanks in advance
