I have been out of work 5 weeks, get income based JSA of £71. Have just accepted a job in a supermarket and accepted immediately and said I am available for any other shifts and any overtime. I know that I get to keep £5 of my JSA and then its deducted £1 per £1. The £5 will cover my travel expenses and financially I am breaking even but that's okay because I am looking at the bigger picture and now I have a foot in the door maybe I will get more shifts. My question is how will the financial assistance towards housing be affected? It may not be much but it helps. I have to work a month in hand and my first work day is the day after I sign. At what point do I tell the JSA advisor? Any help greatly appreciated.
