I am far from an idiot but I am finding the tax credit system utterly confusing. I have completed the calculator check, award and renewal; through the tax credit website or forms sent. Based on what my friends and colleagues have told me I should be getting some sort of payment.
My details:-
I earn £19,950 per annum. I have just opted for a company car as I needed the worth of the car to balance the books. The car is a seat Ibiza 1.2 TDI and P11d value is £14950. I pay all personal mileage and work pays the 1,500 or so miles I do per month.
My wife works 14 hours a weeks but gets overtime so averages 16-20 hours over the year; around £5500 per annum. We have one child under two and currently my wife works evenings and utilises grandparents for childcare.
My wife is also epileptic and unable to drive, she was unable to resume her job prior to maternity due to the distance it was away from our home. Her job now is a standard minimum wage job role.
Based on what I have told the Tax credit team I am not receieved any payments and I am thinking it is because we are earning over the 25K threshold? The strange thing is that my friends and colleagues are, they may have slightly different situations but I don't quite understand it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
