Calculating Net Adjusted Income

I'm really sorry if this has been asked before but I really am baffled. I have my husbands payslip in front of me. In earnings it has salary, car allowance and then a minus figure for Childcare vouchers and final salary pension - This result is shown as total earnings. Then on the right is his deductions - tax and NI which gives us total deductions and net pay. I've looked at the HMRC website calculator but can't actually work out what I put in as gross salary! Do I put the earnings figure which has salary and car allowance minus the Childcare vouchers and pension. Or do I use something else.

I'm not dim, but really can't understand what I should include!
