Claiming JSA and working tax credits

Hi,

My husband lost his job at the end of november, and has not claimed any JSA, he has put a claim in today. We dont claim any working tax credits, if i apply for them today will they need to know how much we both earnt in the last tax year or do i say he is now unemployed? Also i earnt alot less in the last tax year and dont want to over claim now, it's confusing!!! dont want to claim any benefits but we are starting to struggle!!!
