less jsa because of child tax credit???

Hi all,

Im new here so first post..here goes :)

my partner and i have had to apply for joint jsa as we both lost our jobs. we have one child and one on the way- so we are both on the claim but only he needs to sign as we have a dependant child.
I called up today to chase progress of the claim and payments etc and was told that it had been done as follows ( bearing in mind the joint rate is £111 a week....
from claim date until end of jan we are getting a rate of £28 per week- when i queried why she said this is because we are still getting tax credit run on which is up end of jan... ok that seems fisable.
BUT once the working tax credit run on ends in jan we are then entitled to a joint rate for job seekers of £80 per week- when i again queried this she said its because we will still be getting £35 a week CHILD tax credit so its been taken off the weekly amount.
Now this to me does not seem to be correct at all.

Can anyone shed any light??

Thank you
A
