Benefit Cap Advice

Hi people

Just looking for advice on this benefit cap that is coming in now, had a nice conversation with an advisor at Job Centre today and essentially they couldn't describe their backside from their elbow - not the staffs fault they haven't been told much more than us.

Anyway my situation is this; I live with my partner we have three children aged 9, 2 and 1. The 9 year old is Autistic and we receive the low rate for both parts of DLA.

I receive this each week

Income Based JSA - £111.47
Child Benefit - £47.10
Child Tax - £226.36
Housing Benefit - £126.92
DLA - £168

Now from what I understand we would be capped at £500 and the benefits that count to the cap are JSA, Child Benefit, Child Tax and Housing Benefit so totalled together we get £511.83 so would lose out £11.83 not that bothered about it

But from reading the notes about it people who receive DLA for either themselves, partner or any dependant children will be exempted from the cap. But again from talking to others including Job Centre staff there are mixed information about this.

So does anyone on here know more, and what I should expect.

Thanks
gorilla
