DLA award

Hi everyone.

I have been posting in a seperate thread (ask and ATOS rep) regarding questions I had for my Mums DLA claim. The responses I received were hugely helpful and last week my Mum received her award letter. She has been granted higher rate mobility and lower rate care; looking at the descriptions I think that seems about right and it's a huge weight off her mind. She received the award letter on Wednesday and a backdated amount on Thursday in her account. I just had a few questions;

1 - she did not receive a breakdown of how much she should receive; having looked online I now know the amounts but the backdated amount seems to only work out to be for the mobilty element. Would they process the care part seperately?

2 - Is the process to claim for ESA (which I sent off last week) as drawn out, and is she likely to receive this as she has now been awarded ESA?

I also wanted to add that I found the whole process extremely stressful and I am not the one with a condition. I feel a huge amount of sympathy for anyone that has to do this for themselves, whilst also dealing with any sort of condition, and wish everyone luck.

Luckily we didn't have to deal with ATOS in the end - I don't know if my request for a specialist had anything to do with this, but in the end they were happy with her cardiologist and GP report.

As a final note, I realise that everyone's experiences will be different but I found everyone that I spoke with to be very nice and polite, and for the most part, helpful. I was expecting something different so I am happy to have been proved wrong.
