Help with housing and council tax benefit enquiry

Hello,

Registered here today for a little help or advice as i'm so worried about sick about a letter i received today.

I received a letter from my local council that it is necessary to interview myself and my partner on the same day.

Just says a reason for this interview concerns a change in my circumstances that may affect my benefit and i did receive and that i currently receive.

All didn't seem too bad until i read the interview will be recorded and conducted under the police and criminal evidence act 1984 and i may wish to consult a solicitor.
And i felt so sick and now wondering what has gone wrong.

Do i really need advice of a solicitor?

Also my partner and i have split and have been for some time, yet the letter is also addressed to him as in the both of us. I have not told him yet but will do next week when he looks after the kids while i work.

Am i to be worried or not or is this just some sort of formal questioning to check things, only too happy to go but yet so sick and worried.

Do i need help with this matter or just show up alone?
