I live in and was born in England, and hold dual citizenship, British and Irish. I am going to renounce my British citizenship and stay in the UK with my Irish citizenship. I need to do this so that I can get my wife from outside the EU into the UK through the EU immigration route, which is much, much easier than the British immigration route. I am in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and have applied for social housing. How will these things be impacted by altering my citizenship? Is it possible I could lose my ESA and my place on the list for social housing, and need to re-apply from scratch as an EU national? Thanks.
