Hi folks.
I'm feeling a little concerned at the moment, and was hoping someone could perhaps put my mind at ease, maybe give me some pointers to help things run smoothly.
Basically, along with my wife and 2 children have lived in the same rented property for about 4 years. Our very friendly landlord has however fallen on hard times and has had to put our house up for sale.
With this in mind, we took the difficult decision to move out. Now, finding a property which we could (a) afford and (b) would allow pets (we have a dog) was extrmeley difficult. My brother came to the rescue by offering us a property he owns at a reduced rate, as although we would be paying just under £100 a pcm less than he could get on the open market, he knows that we will be in there for many years, and not have any missed payments when tennants move out etc.
This let is 100% legitimate and above board. It will be handles through a respectable letting agent, who we will pay our rent to, complete with letting agreement, deposits etc.
Due to being on a low income, we have been getting some help with ct / rent. I am currently filling out the forms to hand back to the local council ref us moving. One part of the form goes on about landlord details, and asking about our relationship to the landlord.
I've scared myself to death reading about contrived tennancies, have I got anything to worry about?
Truth be told, without the help towards ct/rent, financially we would be in an extremley difficult / impossible position.
Just to recap: We have a legitimate reason for leaving our current property, we have been in reciept of housing / ct benefits for a number of years. The rent value of our current property, and the one we will be moving into, which is owned by my brother are the same.
Any advice would be welcomed.
Thanks.
