Good evening everybody!
I moved to UK two weeks ago.
I come from Germany. At the moment I am receiving Jobseekers' allowance but I hope that soon I will find a job.
In Germany if you are registered as jobseeker you can apply for a so called "Bildungsgutschein" which in English should be something like "education voucher". With it you can get an apprenticeship or a qualification course paid by the jobcenter through which you would then enhanche your qulifications. For example, I got a English course at a private school.
I was wondering if there is also something like that here in the UK.
Suprisingly jobseekers' allowance is only 70 pounds per week but if you want to apply or visit potential employer you need an oystercard which only for zone 1-2 costs already 30 pounds per week. One can get the oystercard jobcenter plus only after 13 weeks of jobseekers's allowance. It is very strange! Is there any other way to get such a card?
Many thanks in advance for your help
Regards
