Hi,
I returned to work in November 12 having been off for a lob time due to illness, it was pretty serious and I was housebound for a couple of years so I wa really pleased to be back at work.
I get return to work credit of £40 per week for a year as long as I work at least 16 hours per week and earn below £15000 per year.
I work as a carer and hurt my back at work so my GP put me in light duties but it wasn't practical so she signed me off for 3 weeks and ordered X-rays and scans.
These tests show I have a massive ( bigger than an orange! ) cyst on my ovary and this is causing my back and hip pain to continue, it has also led to a bakers cyst behind my knee.
The GP now want to sign me off work for 6 more weeks so I can have operation and recover.
Does anyone know where I would stand with my return to work credit? I only get SSP and I'm not sure how I would manage if I lose the £40 per week. I have bills and debts which I can just about manage on my wages so it will be difficult anyway, but if I lose my RTWC that's another £160 per month that I'm down and can't even make up by working overtime. Plus what happens after the 6 weeks as I am only 7 months in to a 1 year claim, would I be able to get it again once I do go back to work after the op?
Has anyone got any experience with this?
Thanks
