Hi,
New to this site, but need some advice if anyone can help.
A friend of mine is in receipt of ESA and is paid fortnightly. He lives with his brother who usually collects his payment using the simple payment card. This weekend, the brother has told him his payment has not been there every time he's went to check, it now turns out that the payment was made and the brother has actually kept the money - we know it was him as he's the only one with access and he has found a receipt confirming date and time the payment was made - we've rang DWP to see if there is anything we can do, and they have said no, as he shouldnt have given him the memorable date for the card (Simple Payment Leaflet advises its ok to do this) the guy has anxiety issues which is why the brother collects if for him in the first place, he's now got no cash (no food etc) and his brother is denying that he's took it, as its the brothers flat, he can't keep getting on his case as he may end up homeless as well. Does anyone know if there is anything we can do or is it a police matter (which will take time and still wont get him the money back) - he asked for a crisis loan and apparently these do not exist now, they told him to apply for a budgeting loan but these can take weeks and is not going to help him here and now, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
