Hello
My sister is a single parent with a disabled son, and is living on benefits. My mother died recently and left her some money. Because of this my sister's benefits have been stopped and she is now living off the money left to her until it is gone, at which point she will go back on benefits.
But she would like somehow to preserve at least some of the money for the future, as my mother intended, when her son's needs, and hers as his carer, will be much greater.
Can anyone tell me if there is any way to do this? She isn't wanting to take the mickey with benefits - she is studying hard for a qualification and looking for work, but given her situation and the economic climate, it is very difficult. She just doesn't want to squander money that was left to her to help with what will be a very difficult future.
Thanks for reading, and for any advice anyone can give
