I am currently in receipt of carers allowance and income support.
I am aware that i am entitled to 28 day's holiday every 26 weeks of being a carer.
However, as i feel i need an extended holiday after many years of caring for my mother, my question relates to making a new claim for both carers allowance and income support on my return.
I intend to take a 3 month holiday in which my sister will take over the caring role, albeit she will not be claiming ca as she works full time.
I know my claim will end as soon as i leave the country and i will not be entitled to the 28 days ca and income support benefits.
Apart from this 3 month sabbatical i have been in receipt of ca and income support for several years with no breaks from caring or any holiday's.
So, when i return i will be intending to make another claim for both benefits.
Will the fact that i have effectively ended my claim myself by taking an extended holiday have any negative influence on making a successful new claim for both carers allowance and income support on my return? ... or, will my second claim for both benefits be judged only upon the standard requirements for new claimants, without them taking into consideration my previous claim and extended holiday?
I obviously do not want my extended holiday to have any bearing on whether or not my new claim will be successful.
Not sure if the requirements are tougher now for claiming both ca and income support, but my mother is far more in need of a carer now as her condition has worsened, than she did for my initial claim.
I hope somebody can advise before i commit to my holiday expenses.
BTW, my mother is in receipt of DLA at the middle rate.
Thanks.
