My husband lost his job in February and since then he has been on JSA and we have had help with the mortgage interest, council tax benefits, tax credits etc.
We do also have a lot of debt (£16000) and so we want to sell the house which we estimate to make 20k on so that we can clear the debts and move forward without the baggage.
However, my biggest concern is what DWP makes of our bank accounts receiving such a grand sum whilst we are on benefits, even though the money won't be in the account for more than a day or so.
Does anyone know whether benefits are affected in a situation like this? Or would they only be affected if we kept the money as savings?
