Does anybody know the exact definition of a hospital in-patient, according to the DWP?
I receive higher rate Motability and care, and may soon fall foul of the new regulations regarding hospitalisations of 28 days or longer.
One thing that did occur to me is that every 21 days, I receive an intravenous treatment at the hospital. This involves ambulance transport checking me in at the hospital reception at around 0930, where I am taken to the 'day ward' (not the out-patient clinic, which is a separate area - perhaps an important distinction). I am then 'admitted' on to the ward (asked questions about next of kin, arrangements at home etc etc), given a bed and a wristband, and my treatment commences. I spend the day in bed, and am collected by ambulance at around 4pm again when treatment is finished, arriving back home at 5pm.
Would that count as an inpatient hospital admission, or not?
I should say that I have declared this as a course of treatment on my renewal forms, so they are already aware I'm receiving this treatment, but I'm just wondering.
For those who have followed previous threads, I am here concerned with section 7.12 of this really handy document that I was guided to before:

Thanks
