Sporadic work/ benefit woes

Hi all

I work in a job with irregular hours, January and February I hardly worked at all, this month I've worked most days, etc

Anyway, I moved in with my partner March 2012

She was in the process of switching from income support to JSA as her daughter turned 7

So, we applied for JSA at the time, as my hours were sporadic and she wasnt working
I provided wage slips for Jan and Feb that year plus my P45
We also applied for housing benefit

We got the full housing benefit as my wages were below the threshold of our councils £770 per month
We also got a small JSA payment of £24 per fortnight
Also my partner gets £62 a week child tax credit plus £20 a week child benefit

In August we got a letter saying our JSA payments had been amended to £50 per fortnight, I was saying this cant be right as I earn too much (roughly £8000 p/a) to get them
Anyway in September my partner got a 5 hour per week job at the local school
We made the error of not officially declaring it to the child tax people or the housing dept
The job centre knows as every fortnight when she signs on we have to fill the form out detailing work done

Anyway, my partner is stressing as she thinks all this is coming home to roost as it were
I had my P45 for last year, I earned £8362
Between September and now my partners earned about £700

As far as I can work out you need to earn £15,000 plus before child tax credit goes down, and we are just within the £770 a month before we have to pay rent

But, of course there's the JSA people, and the £50 a fortnight we've been getting and as far as I see we shouldn't have been getting anything, despite them saying we should

Also the job centre asked how many hours a week I work and at the time I guessed at 15 as its around that figure as I thought if I said 16 we'd be penalised, I don't know if this is still the case?

Anyway, its all a mess, my partner is stressed to hell that we're going to get made homeless or pay back £1000s when we have hardly a spare penny as it is

Any advice appreciated
