Ok, where to start. Last year in September, my childrens dad took our children and refused to return them. He claimed tax credits, child benefit etc. I then got them back in November, not through court but just by going there and taking them before social services did. They stayed with my mum until the end of December and then I moved in. I then claimed child benefit, which took til the end of feb and then claimed tax credits. I received a letter 2 weeks ago stating they needed more proof. Council tax benefit letters, rent etc but because everything is in my mums name I could only send bank statements and pay slips. I rang today to see if it was enough to be told it wasn't and my claim was rejected because there is no proof that I am entitled to tax credits as a single claimant. I haven't recieved a letter saying this yet nor have I recieved my payslips and bank statement back yet. Do I appeal it? Or reapply? I'm really struggling. I earn £105 a week and get £33.70 a week child benefit. I'm in tears right now because this is so hard. Any advice?
