Can anyone advise if this has changed ?
I have always received this because I have been unable to work full time, I get DLA at lower rate, and worked part time.
I understood you had to be in receipt of a qualifying benefit, work over 16 hours AND come under one of the list that puts you at a disadvantage of getting a job. For me that was unable to sustain a full time working week 5 days a week 40 hours.
As I posted the other day I have been asked to go full time which I'm going to give a try. I'm still not sure if I can cope with it, but giving it a go.
I rang HMRC yesterday on the first day of the new hours (as they say to do) - and spoke to a woman who INSISTED I am still eligible for it, even though I'm now working full time. My full time hours are only 35 hours, but it's 5 days and in my opinion that is full time ?
I questioned it - said I thought I would not be eligible because I've previously said I couldnt work full time - and she went and checked with her manager and came back and said that as long as I was working over 16 hours and was in receipt of DLA - and am single - I am eligible ??
She said I can earn up to £19000 as a single disabled person ? says it doesnt matter how many hours I work as long as I get DLA ?
So I'm totally confused really - going to wait for the letter to come in. The other issue is I earned £9400 last year - which she said THIS years payments would be based on - but this year now ? I'm full time and will be on just under £15000 gross.
So I should be getting high payments earning that - but she said I would as it's based on LAST year ? so I would be afraid of it being an overpayment ?
I truly am not sure she got it right as all the criteria on the HMRC website has not changed, and I am sure I am not eligible ?
Can anyone advise ? Thank you :)
