My partner and I have split up, I have a son of 22 months and I have an older son who works but not on a high income who lives with me. Would he be able to claim working tax credit for me and my 22 month old. Or would it be financially better if I worked over 16 hours a week and I claimed it. Will it affect what I am able to claim because my working son lives with me. Would the benefit people take into account his wages or just the amount small though it be he pays me to help towards living costs.
