Hi,
Just trying to help my new girlfriend with her income. Aged 28, no children. Wonder if anyone could look over these brief details and see if it makes sense.
She has been unemployed for over a year, and been living with a friend. She was offered a Job at the end of January though a temping agency, took the job and moved out into rented accommodation. She has been one 1 week notice, and last week was changed to 3 month notice period.
I told her she might be entitled to tax credits in March, so we filled in the form and sent it off. It was confusing it only asked for last years income but I was told this is how they work it out if returning to work. Online calculators estimated £52 a week in working tax credit. Anyway, on 19th April she received 3 different payments on the same day (£28, £72, £52), totalling £152.
Her hours can vary, but is normally 37.5 hours a week, at £7.30 an hour.
Her gross income for 2011/2012 was £0.00
Her gross income for 2012/2013 was £2495.10
There seems so little information online about working tax credits for those returning to work, as well as they on temp contracts. Does the above sound about correct for her circumstances?
