Compensation affect on Tax Credits

Hi all

I'm currently in the middle of being tupe'd over to another company and still in negotiations on a lump sum payment as compensation for losing Non-Contributory Pension Scheme. Obviously i'am now worried that Hmrc will take the compensation payment as earnings when calculating my Working and Child Tax Credits for next year, which would bring them to zero which I cant possibly afford and would result in me having to sell my house.

I have tried numerous times to call hmrc but kept on hold for over 30mins each time.

Any knowledge on this would be great :)
