I just phoned JSA to understand in more detail why I have been refused JSA Contributions based and the person I spoke to said it was because I had not paid NI contributions for at least 50 weeks of the year in question.
The reasons why I am questioning this are:
1. I have not read that in any of the lists of requirements I have seen on many different websites.
2. 50 weeks sounds like a ridiculous amount as there are only 52 weeks in a year, that would be a hell of a lot of contributions.
3. The only restriction in terms of NI payments that I have read about before are that you should have paid NI on at least £4850 (2010-11) worth of earnings for the year.
