Hello all!
I have been trying to help a family member with this issue: she's currently working on a zero hours contract and usually does aroun 40 hours per week, but her work has been severely affected recently by recurrent bouts of shingles. She has been to see a doctor and her doctor has agreed that this has made her incapable of working for the time being.
She would like to apply for ESA and also SMI (Support for Mortgage Interest). What should her next step be? The reason why I ask is because it I read on the government's website that only those on income-based ESA (or JSA) are eligible for SMI, and because she's worked for the past 15 years or so, I'm assuming she'd be put on contribution-based ESA (or JSA).
Any help would be great, thanks!
