Housing Benefit & CTC Potential Payment?

Hi,

Last year at renewal time I gave HMRC an estimate of our (myself & husband) income for the coming year, they then sent the paperwork which mentioned a potential payment.

What I need to understand is what impact any lump sum would have on housing benefit? Obviously, I declared all our income to the council and they've had a copy of our CTC award so do I need to advise of this potential payment and is it going to be a headache?
