hi,
I'm sorry if I am posting on the wrong forum, I'm trying to support a friend who is going through a really tough time, and just wondered if anyone has any advice please?
My friends husband is leaving her in the next couple of weeks (as soon as he has arranged somewhere else to live).:(
She works part time in a Supermarket and also supply teaches (which unfortunately is not as regular as she'd like). The hours she works at the Supermarket are early weekend mornings and a couple of late nights (to keep her free in the day for supply work). Her soon to be ex, hasn't got a great income and she has found out he will only be eligible to pay her £50 a week.
The relationship is dreadful and she really doesn't want him back in the house once he leaves (he has spoken of taking other furniture that belongs to her) and whilst he had offer to 'babysit' on the evenings she works, he hasn't offered the early morning weekend starts! (but to be honest she is reluctant to accept the evening help too due to her concerns).
My questions are - In terms of recieving benefits - (1) Can she still recieve them if she gives up her part time employment (over 16hrs)? (2) How would it work in terms of supply teaching? - Some weeks she doesn't get any work at all, but then on the weeks she gets jobs she is obviously on a good hourly rate.
Not sure if I have given you enough info - i'm sorry if thats the case - I know CAB are the place to go, I just know she won't be able to get there for a couple of days and I am talking to her regularly and just wanted to help as best I can.
many thanks for your time:)
