Help !
Basically My OH claims ESA, due to many mental health problems
(Anxiety, Depression, Social Phobia, Stress etc.)
Whilst I was unemployed we got the couple's rate of ESA
When I started my job in February, our ESA rate was lowered and I get my wage.
It is now looking like I will be leaving this job, It has been nothing but problems since I started this job, they are constantly changing my working hours and days, at short notice,
having me do work that I should not be doing and am not authorised to do so (managerial duties etc.) to compensate for incompetance of other staff, I start 30 mins early every day, and leave at least 30 mins late, every day I've worked as I have to go around and correct other staff members work before I do my own
The manager also speaks to me in a very sly and sarcastic way, almost derisory and other people have picked up on this, including customers who have given me looks as if to say "what was all that about"
3 members of staff have left in the past month
There are at least 3 vacancies a year going for this small business with 5 members of staff.
I got my first wage and they had got it wrong, I only got paid for 2 days in the month, giving me £80 to live on for the next month
On top of this me working has affected my oh's stress and anxiety in ways that we didn't expect, they've been having panic and anxiety attacks, as well as other things I don't want to discuss on a public forum, due to being left in the house on their own, this is something we didn't expect.
All this leads to me planning to hand in my notice, however someone told me if I hand in my notice, I will not be able to claim benefit anymore as I have made myself unemployed ! !
Is this true?
Does this only apply to jobseekers?
Will we still be affected on ESA as if I leave we would be going back onto ESA at the couples rate, we never stopped claiming ESA we just get a reduced rate as they take off my wage
Please help !
I feel like I've ruined our life by taking this job, but I really wanted to work and was tired of people's opinions on me because I didn't, problems with the management aside I do like the job, But I cannot cope with the problems in the job I am rota'd for 15 hours a week and some weeks they have me serve that over 5 days, so I am coming in for 3 hours a day, this costs me £30 a week in bus fare of my £96 wage !
