Rent changes, can you advise me please?

Hi I hope this is the right forum for this question. My housing officer from my housing association came to visit me yesterday. I am on housing benefit, and she told me that instead of my rent being paid directly to them it would go straight into my bank account.

I have mild learning disabilities and I am very worried that I will get into a mess with my rent. This doesn’t come into effect until October but I am still very worried about it. I asked if they could help me with it but they said they couldn’t and asked if I had a support worker.

I said no because the lady who used to support me left years ago, I have been in the property since October 2000. She said she would call someone to help me, but knowing them I’ll probably not hear anything from them and I will have to chase them up. I feel I have been left to deal with this all on my own and its very hard knowing what to do. I don’t want to be evicted because there is no way I could survive on the streets! :eek:

The rent get paid every month (about every four weeks) and I have been advised to pay it once a week. I have been told by a friend that they always pay it in arrears’ (what ever that means?) I can see a lot of the tenants in the block getting into a muddle because they haven’t been properly advised what to do. I am also Calclexic, or is it Dyscalculia? I can’t work out figures or numbers which doesn’t help. :huh:
