Wife was self employed for 4 yrs until she had our 3rd child last july. Her self employment was a cleaning round and all the clients couldnt wait for her to come off maternity so she sort of closed down. She was put on sick by the doctor before then getting maternity benefit through dss but that finished in february.she went into job centre and was told she had to apply for jsa. But she has just got a letter saying she cant get this as she has not paid enough class one contributions, as i presume self employment is class 2 and dont count..... The lady said the only way to get anything is to go on sick but there is no reason for her to go on sick. I work a wierd shift pattern and we have a 13 yr old, 11 yr old and a 7 mth old baby and no family to help with child care so the chance of finding a job is unlikely.. Any idea if there any other help out there?
