Hi there
Me and my partner are looking to move out together very shortly.
Currently we both work full time. We're expecting our first baby in a few months time, and at the minute we currently claim no benefits, and live with parents.
When the baby arrives, I'm aware we may be entitled to very small amount of HB, around £5-£10 per week. I know it's not an awful lot, but we both work hard and don't earn a great deal at all, so every little helps.
If you were us, would you still apply for properties that state NO DSS? Or does this automatically disqualify us? Just because we receive upto £10 per week HB are we classed as DSS tenants, therefore ineligable? At the time of obtaining a tenancy, we will not be entitled to HB, only once the baby arrives.
Just to add, I'd directly pay the landlord, so he wouldn't have to worry about being paid the remainder from the HB dept.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
