Hi,
As outlined in the title above, my 18 year old Son is coming to the end of his A-Level courses.
He is due to start Uni in September.
Ordinarily, I understand that, in this situation both tax credits and child benefit would continue until the first week in September.
However, once he finishes school, my Son is confident that his part-time employer will be able to offer him more hours, which will take his weekly hours worked to in excess of that magic figure of 24 hours per week.
I would add that this would be for the period between leaving sixth form and starting Uni.
Am I right in thinking that once my Son takes his last A-Level exam (and has therefore officially left the sixth form) and starts to work in excess of 24hrs per week, the tax credits and child benefit then stop immediately?
Obviously, once he leaves further education, I will be ringing the relevant departments to inform them anyway. However, just working out my budget and planning ahead.
Any informed advice much appreciated.
